High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Tottori Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan located in the Ch?goku region on Honsh? island. The capital is the city of Tottori. It is the least populous prefecture in Japan. Tottori originally consisted of the old provinces of H?ki and Inaba. The word "Tottori" originates from the characters meaning "bird" and "to get", as early residents in the area made their living catching the region's plentiful waterfowl. Tottori is home to the Tottori Sand Dunes, Japan's only large dune system. Tottori Prefecture is heavily agricultural and its products are shipped to major cities. Some of the famous products are nashi pear, nagaimo, rakkyo, negi (shiro-negi, Welsh onion), and watermelon.
