Description

Discourses of eating and drinking are situated at the crossroads of everyday language, advertising and special language discourse, media (internet, TV, opera, etc.) and literature. Dish names mirror contacts of cultures, but they also act as an advertising vehicle in menus. Restaurant reviews, dinner conversations and wine labels transport stereotypes such as the home made- or the country-of-origin effect and the ethics of eating and drinking ranges from health issues to animal protection.
Essens- und Trinkensdiskurse stehen im Schnittpunkt von Alltagssprache, Werbe- und Fachdiskursen, Medien (Internet, Fernsehen, Oper, etc.) und Literatur. Speisennamen spiegeln Kulturkontakte, sind aber auch Werbeträger in Speisekarten; Gastronomiekritiken, Tischgespräche, Weinetiketten transportieren Stereotypen wie den Hausgemacht- oder den Ursprungsland-Effekt; von Gesundheit bis Tierschutz reicht schließlich die Ethik des Essens und Trinkens.

Biography Artist:
The Editors: Eva Lavric is professor of Romance Linguistics at the University of Innsbruck. Her research is in contrastive semantics, pragmatics, special languages and sociolinguistics.
Carmen Konzett works as a research assistant for French Linguistics at the University of Innsbruck. Her research focuses on interaction analysis, code-switching and strategies of identity construction.
Die Herausgeberinnen: Eva Lavric ist Professorin für Romanische Sprachwissenschaft an der Universität Innsbruck. Sie forscht in kontrastiver Semantik, Pragmatik, Fachsprachen und Soziolinguistik.
Carmen Konzett ist Assistentin für Französische Sprachwissenschaft an der Universität Innsbruck. Ihre Forschungsbereiche sind Interaktionsanalyse, Code Switching und Strategien der Identitätskonstruktion.
